In 2014 Universal split the Island-DefJam brand into their two original identities. Island Records asked Idea Junction to build a site to show its rich heritage and history, as well as promote their existing roster.
Our concept for the site was to focus the user experience onto the connections between items of content, to guide a user towards constantly discovering related content and the rest of the roster, from any initial entry point. We delivered a super clean design that is packed full of information and works for mobile and touch as well as it does on the desktop.
Content is pulled from YouTube, Bandsintown and UMG discogs APIs, and also social media networks are ingested via LiveFyre, further augmenting the site’s rich content.
